FASHION -Spiros Halaris
Spiros Halaris is a multi-disciplinary illustrator who has collaborated on major commercial projects with fashion houses and magazines whilst creating independently fine artworks that are translated in many different media.
He started out as a graphic designer and then progressed, initially self-taught, into more illustrative fields. His inspirations vary greatly. he usually find inspiration in anything visually intriguing; a vase, a billboard or a button. In everyday life, graphics catch his eye more often than art. Graphics dominate our lives so chances are that there will be at least one inspiring or intriguing item in the daily pile of visual information that we consume. As a first step he will usually research thoroughly the subject that he want to illustrate. Then he will usually find a detail that grasps my attention and will start from there.
His style is a minimalist play of deconstructive elements that altogether construct a dramatic pop aesthetic with vibrant colours and graphics.he use digital tools but also some handmade elements
In his mind good graphic art should be bold, striking and memorable.
His studio looks like a newsagent’s because apart from the desk spaces, the rest of the area is filled with magazines and books that I’ve collected over the years.
He had the opportunity to collaborate with the Design Museum and the Christian Louboutin exhibition a couple of months ago and he really proud of the work that came out of it.
